ricky.mathews wrote:So by doing this, it will mask your note 7 as a different device? When I put the first 8 of my IMEI, my 6 digit birthday, and the Auto generated digit it said the device IMEI was a Note 2. Will this affect my service or any functionality of my device if I add this IMEI to my device?
Can you try again using the first 9 (or 10) digits from your existing IMEI?
Please let us know the result - for me the first 8 digits have been enough (35345808 for international F model). Maybe your variant is more specific, which one is it?
Funny, I am working on the same thing.
But different angle.
I am planning to desquise my note 7 with my existing devices.
I need to check if Market Helper still works.
So I don't get stupid notifications from Google Play that this or that app is not compatible with this device.
There is newer version that I have; link below.
Must create new Gmail/Google account first like from PC
Anyhow there are threads on xda "how to"
I have about 6 galaxy devices all from T-mobile. All legit
Link: edited
Just checked the link. The name of dev is the same
But link was rubbish.
Sorry for posting without checking.
App icon was the same so I took a bite.
Will look for legit link.

Just to avoid confusion here:
You're tricking the playstore with this tool.
This thread is about changing the (EEPROM based) HW identifier to avoid beeing kicked by telecom providers on behalf of samsung.

There is no confusion. Maybe I didn't explain myself.
Instead of generating IMEI that will work
I will use IMEI from my note4 or S4 or SIII etc instead.
Since they are registered with my carrier.
But this has a shortcoming.
It will work for me. Or anyone who has older paid/legit device only!
Does this make sense to you now?

Hello everyone! I am new to this Alliance and so far I am Loving IT! My situation. I am an Employee at Best Buy & I work in the mobile department. I have disabled all updates via Package disabler Pro, like many have. I also received a text via AT&T yesterday about the "death update". I currently still own a galaxy s7 as a back up phone. I have limited access to OPUS at work which is an AT&T used system to do things to our phones and account as a whole. My IMEI on my number had been automatically switched to the Note 7 when I swapped Sims. I went into OPUS yesterday and keyed in my IMEI for my s7 instead. Verified with my AT&T rep that my account and phone number reflected a galaxy s7 and it does. However, in the future the longer I use my Note 7, AT&T will know via my sim and revert my IMEI back to the Note. At least this Is what I believe to be true. If so and the IMEI is blacklisted, I will have to switch it back periodically.
Questions: 1- I would like to root my note. Doing so I can edit the build prop and IMEI of the device to mimic an s7 edge or something else. How would I go about doing that without bricking it myself or getting it stuck in the bootloader?
Question: 2- Can I just use a different note 7 IMEI as I have been reading in this thread to be able to still receive service and the IMEI not be blacklisted?
Also note: I have unlocked my note as well so I can use it with any other carrier. My version is the snapdragon/ model -n930a.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome! I am pretty knowledge about this stuff but only recently have taken a dive into the developer world so it is still all kind of new to me!
So lets say i have 2 not rooted n7 models both on the same firmware carrier which is verizon. Am i able to replace and use one imei from one note to the other? I guess in other words cloning imeis between both same exact model n7s. Also if a friends n7 tmo was to be messed up by tmo in the near future would i be able to help him or her by sharing my imei in efs backup form?
All this is totally legit because its to protect our use for the device that we love.
@No1: OK, now I understand . Well, so wait if we manage to flash our own-generated n7 IMEIs successfully. If yes, simply try a different TAC or any other existing or non-existing IMEI as you like. There was a rumour that only n7 IMEIs can be used on the n7 - I don't believe in that, however this still needs to be verified.
@kojak2424: Your OPUS access sounds Interesting Your questions are a bit complex to answer in short - I think you can stay relaxed this way with your n7 at the moment.
@capoceo: I would advise against this. Reason: Providers using the IMEI also to manage/optimize their network cell parameters in realtime. Sooner or later they will block your IMEI completely if the IMEI is not unique in their network, cause you're generating error messages in their logs. Better go with self-generated unique IMEIs in your case.

Rudolf thanks for the quick response. Can you make video on how to self generate as i dont want to brick the n7. Maybe if anything a personal step by step tut by you would be best imo.
aztek i think its still a worthwhile convo. I think too if anyone has the s7 or s7 edge they may be able to get more involved with testing out these methods because those devices are almost close to hardware specs but considering the objective it should be more relevant with ease when it comes to the efs imei experimenting.

Capoceo,
Agreed. As, we are testing these methods together. All I'm saying is let's not get too hyped for step 2 when step 1 isn't guaranteed yet.
Mzmelissa26 wrote:Kojak how did you unlock the note for other networks?
AT&T allows you to request to unlock your phone through their website while logged into your user account. I did it with my iPhone 6 plus prior to getting this Note.
Upon granting that request the phone becomes more valuable.

We are the ALLIANCE!!!!
It might. I usually out-right pay for my devices in general so I had the option available on my iPhone. I'd check into that first to be sure. But, carriers are the ones who can grant unlocking phones.
