Been doing research for the past 3 days on my note 7. I'm praying this is a solution for me to use the phone without fear of retribution by samsung!

nOTE 7 OTA UPDATE ""NEW BLOCK METHOD" WORKING 100%
Using ES file explorer I found a way to block the software update. The app locker add-on for ES File explorer is required. You then lock the app pick a password or pattern, which ever makes you giggle...And "VOILA" no more update. Every time the update attempts to install it will request a password, which you "DO NOT ENTER" unless you see a future in laying bricks.

Thanks for all the hardwork. Just got a Note 7 as a replacement, only to read they will all soon be bricked. Any idea how long till the 3-4% battery limit rolls out? It is currently stuck at 60%. Will work at the updates this week.

This sounds like it would be easier than installing the shield....is that true or is it just less fully explained?

An honest question...I will give you an honest answer...
Neither the shield v2 nor the Solid Explorer method are difficult. And while we encourage the open exchange of information on this site, it might be good for you to keep in mind that the methods we suggest have been tried and tested on multiple carriers on numerous phones.
We also have the support that may or not be available to you if you decide to test other methods. All solutions involve some risk... Nothing is guaranteed, but it would seem prudent, **in my personal opinion, and as a moderator on this site** to stick with a more proven method.
Now, if you're in the mood to experiment, by all means, give the alternate method a shot and let us know how it goes...
But to me, it would seem you might be best served by Shield v2 at this time.
