Rudolf, quick question. We have a member who still has the original att firmware (pre green battery update). Is there a way to extract an image of that firmware and install on those n7 with the non rootable firmware?rudolf.hohenfelse wrote:Well, as @aztek already said: Generating a valid IMEI is only the first step. Now we need a safe way to flash the IMEI to n7. Then we need to proof it in the wild with an device already blocked by carrier. So please be patient...capoceo wrote:Rudolf thanks for the quick response. Can you make video on how to self generate as i dont want to brick the n7. Maybe if anything a personal step by step tut by you would be best imo.

Reason i ask is because i believe the at&t variant was rootable via this method BEFORE the green battery update

Yes, it's possible. The same way it was possible for us to do it with the firmware everyones using now to restore battery.Mzmelissa26 wrote:Reason i ask is because i believe the at&t variant was rootable via this method BEFORE the green battery update

My only concern was: if there really was Note 7 battery issues (risk of explosion/fire), the second firmware (in green battery devices) has throttles and specific fail-safes added just in case it does happen. So, I don't wanna put pre-explosion software on everyone's phone if it really was to create a problem but it's definitely worth looking into for the sake of those who don't care about the risk.
Seems all of us have a little bit of that, as we're still keeping our phones haha.

Honestly i don't think that second update has any fail safes. I think Samsung pushed that shit out entirely too quickly not realizing that wasn't the issue

So in Canada , a few hours from now the "killer update is set to come". Would the best course of action be to power down your phone say at 5am, and just wait for a fix?. I don't believe there is any current way at all to even block the update from updating, am I correct on my thinking?.

Hiya. I've got a note 7 Aus thats currently package disabled. I'm desperate and more than happy to test out whether we can bypass the imei block thats coming in 3 days. Anything that I can do to help/test?

So found out some information today regarding this update coming soon & our imei's. At least with AT&T only. I have not yet heard things about other carriers.
1 - according to an AT&T tech. The update will be pushed out through OTA. Therefore those of us who have disabled updates should be fine.
2 - As I mentioned earlier I have access to an AT&T network that allows me to change certain things. I entered in my S7 imei that I still currently have & it seems to have stayed for the time being so my account shows my device being used as an s7. I have been told that once it kicks back to my Note (inevitably in due time) if the note imei is blacklisted it will cut my service & deactivate my Sim card. I can then go back to the system change the imei back to my S7 & issue myself a new Sim card & repeat until a permanent fix.
3 - I know not everyone has access such as this & it can be pretty annoying to have to switch things every so often. I believe that if we can root our devices & edit the build prop to reflect an s7 edge or a different imei which is usable we should be good for the foreseeable future.
Hope this helps y'all in the search of a permanent answer. Also I too have a note that is pre-green battery update. If you need screenshots of something let me know!

Hi! First, thank you for this group. I love my Note 7 and am furious that they're trying to kill it.
My question is would the tutorial for blocking the 60% update also block the phone killer update?

once we generate an imei, how do we change it on our phone? Is there an app or developer code we have to enter ?
