I received the message about the cutoff on Jan 31st, but, about an hour ago, an update was downloaded. I didn't click to update it. I have also used the blocks suggested from this website and everything was fine, up until about an hour ago. I don't know what to do.

jason.ratliff wrote:8558 Like was said above as long as data still works after the Verizon call block you can still make calls as normal (with your current number as caller ID) through voip apps like Google Hangouts dialer. Try it out, I have mine installed and ready to use, would at least work over wifi but I don't think it has been mentioned that 4g would be blocked so should be able to use it everywhere...
Not sure about incoming calls, i wonder if call forwarding would still work even if your imei were blocked?
Forward to a Google voice number or something...

IF Verizon manages your incoming and outgoing voice-calls by entering the IMEI range of Note 7 devices into the call-management database, you may have no option to select call-forwarding
In Australia, ALL Telcos have implemented IMEI-based voice-call blocking that started on 15DEC2016, which is proving effective

Incoming call intercept uses the 'service-busy' flag and permits the caller to enter a 10 second voice-message that is then converted to text and sent as a hms...
examples from recent research:
ex1 - no voice message left: You missed a call from 04nnnnnnnn who did not leave a message. This message was provided by 'carrier name' at no charge to you.
ex2 - voice message left: You missed a call from 04nnnnnnnn who said "Call 'name-given' on 04nnnnnnnn. Thank you". This message was provided by 'carrier name' at no charge to you.
Outgoing calls are switched, when the 'call-icon' is pressed on the Note 7, not to the called number but instead to a voice message that announces:
... "This handset has been blocked on this network. For further information, please call your service providers customer support area."
... Customer support staff have suggested that the Note 7 is using a 'data only' SIM (?), have quoted the Telco's position as obeying a Samsung directive; and have referred to the Telco's website.
... by way of example <<
https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/ ... a-p/604229>> which was updated on 16JAN2017.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info, so at least you're notified of a missed call and if you still have data you can call back through an Internet dialer app, this doesn't sound so bad to me, I don't get calls that often and if I can still get notified of a call it isn't much different than not answering right away...
I also just looked at porting my number to Google voice it is just $20 as stated by someone else on here. Ideally I could use the note 7 as a voip phone with no line charge just data so $10/month depending on your plan if you already have shared data plan right? I have been thinking of trying this anyway, now will be a good time to test it.

I am experimenting with a work-around that uses my SIM-card in a voice-call-capable tablet which appears to work for my particular situation and Telco rules though I can't disclose the details until I've done more testging.

I received the email for the 20th (today) from Verizon. I guess we'll see how V-Day (doesn't sound as cool as it it in my head) goes down today

Well.... I believe today is D-Day for at least some people here.
Any news from Rebel Alliance or have the Imperial forces done their thing yet? Mine is 1/27. Still haven't received the box in the mail.

Well... my email said 1/27 but they went ahead and shut me down anyway today. Guess I am outta luck at this point. No data/4G and calls go to Verizon.
