Hi,

I'm trying to install the shield for the first time. This is all very new to me.
I'm having trouble getting the APK installer program on my PC to detect my note 7. On my phone I click an MTP connection but the note 7 doesn't appear. It shows up on my PC as if I added a USB key but not in the APK installer program. Any advice?

You must make sure that in developer options the MTP (media transfer protocol) is selected. You must also make sure that you have the correct drivers through Windows, otherwise no detection will be made. Try switching the USB port on your computer, sometimes the front ones don't always like to work. Sometimes back ones give problems. Shrug. Try these few things and report back.

Thanks, It was a problem with the driver.
Unfortunately, right when I connected my phone to wifi it started auto updating and applying the battery restrictions.
Do I still follow the regular procedure to get my phone back to normal or do I need to factory reset and start over?

I must have done something wrong if it updated...

I was trying to log in to the N7 alliance app but I did not have enough posts, while that was happening it auto updated. Do I need to react quicker next time or I did something wrong?

You need enough posts first and it automatically unlocks the ability imwheb you sign on

Yes, I have 5 posts, I got the shield to work.
Unfortunately when it updated I got the 60% limit and popup notification, this is even after I factory reset the phone.
Any advice how to get rid of that?

If it is the 60% limit that can be fixed, you need to flash your model firmware over the 60% one.

Once that is finished use the NFC install method to install Shield and block updates.
