Hi guys I am new to the N7 group and willing to do whatever it takes to help my wife and I keep our Note 7 (hands down the best phone ever!) Here is just a little information of my phones that I will be working with. I am currently not affected with the 60% update but I do have the update in my banner waiting to install. I just never hit the install to actually run it lol so I am still GREEN! 100%
Verizon carrier
Model number
SM-N930V
Android version
6.0.1
Kernel version
3.18.20
Now for the questions:
1. Do I follow everything in this link here first?
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=237
2. Or do I have to do this first?
http://note7alliance.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=71
Then go back my step 1 from here.
3. Once my forum requirements are met with 5 forum post would the Alliance shield be the only thing I need to block all of the Verizon's and Samsung updates from bricking my note? Or would I have to to run step 1 and 2 first before install the Alliance shield.
If someone can maybe help me out and post the correct order of installing steps here in my post or lead me to where I have to go that would be great as well. I am sorry if I am acting like a noob lol but this would be a first time thing for me and just want to make sure I do it correctly. I appreciate everyone who has put in long days and hours into help everyone like me keep our note 7. Respect let the alliance live on!

I believe once each of us has 5 posts, we'll be allowed to login and download the Alliance Shield from the main page.

It sounds as though it is supposed to be straightforward after that.

I hope the alliance shield is all we would need. But I'm willing to do those other steps if I have to

I never once considered myself "proficient" at using my cellphone (just the usual day-to-day stuff). But in reading just one of the hyperlinks you have above i found how to open up the "Developer Options" by clicking on "About Phone" and clicking "Build info" 7 times...i obviously would have never even thought of something like that. Small tip of a very large iceberg...

Yes follow what you have as step 2 first.... Then block the updates. If you can use the shield, that's what i suggest using to block them

Hi NCqTee thanks for the reply I did install the shield and my notification went away in my notification bar! does that mean I am safe from future updates? I did not do the OTA which is my step two in this post. I just straight to the shield. Do I have to install the OTA?

You only reverse the ota update if it downloaded to your phone and wiating for you to install. At this time, proceed with using the Alliacve Shield

The only rootable versions right now are the international versions. I've heard that some with the older firmware with the white battery might also have root capabilities. Which baseband are you using?

So is it that they have a block against rooting it, or is it no one has cracked access to it yet?
Phone being discontinued is probably going to make rooting a priority /sad face
