Google Backup issue

I had my phone slow down a lot so decided to reset it. It had Shield on it, as admin but not owner. Decided to upgrade because Shield started throwing errors when asked to disable things. And other issues.

So, I backed up using my SmartSwitch and my Google One Backup, reset the device, did the Owner QR setup and ... no backup on Google One and SmartSwitch refuses to work. One of these is my fault, SS is documented to not work (I knew this but tried anyway) HOWEVER the page seems to suggest that Google Backup is known to work.

After setting up as Owner, Google does not suggest a restore. After account is added, backup says "no backup is available".

I went all over, looking for answers and in the "smart switch does not work" link, if you read the article, the article mentions that Google does the same, and will not restore a managed device. Basically, you're out of luck.

The page here: shield/device-owner-qr-setup/ says "Backup your device with your Google Account" as one of the steps and then under it says "restore your device". This, to me, implies that the full Google One backup will work.

The linked article, https://docs.samsungknox.com/admin/knox ... 041291294/ however says that "As an alternative to Smart Switch, a Google Account can be used to sync contacts, calendars, apps, and browsing history to a device configured as Fully Managed"

As I understand it, backup data like app data, sms messages, call history and the like will not be restored at all and this is by design. Am I wrong? I tried and if I use Owner setup Google pretends the device can't be restored.

Shouldn't this be more visible?
