Hello!
Firstly, thank you all so much for what you do here for those of us who really want to have the option of keeping the phone we love to use! The community really is awesome & I'm excited to venture into the depths of my phone even moreso, lol.
I found this group via the mashable article & previously (prior to reading the article) had already flashed firmware & enabled PDP 4.0, blocking the three pkgs (among others) most likely to push the dreaded update.
All has ran smoothly for several weeks up til now with no issues & full battery, BUT one can never be too careful...
Soooo my question is this, in the event of possibly downloading & activating the shield, should I dump PDP first? I'm a little wary at this stage to be naked (so to speak) for a few seconds while installation takes place.
Thanks to all who do what you do!

Yes. I would download the sheild app. I've heard that pdp can force update. I'd download the sheild, put it airplane mode, enable all packages in pdp. Activate the sheild, and then take it out of airplane mode.

I have verizon, so if app not installed yet, can the airplane mode block the update or by some time

Ok another noob question, all my data will be lost. What is a good way to back up all my data. Sim,SD card, or cloud. What are my options. Not really a tech guy and all this is some what confusing with this update stuff. I really love my phone and I think it's the best note I have got, best phone on the market as well. Didn't even mind the 60% max batt I got hit wit. Any pointers and advice would help me out and be appreciated

You can backup to sd card, cloud or just plug up to computer and copy your files over.

Oops!
I forgot to ask...
Was that keep pkgs enabled on pdp or dump pdp all together once activating the shield? Thanks again!
This forum is so helpful apart from another experience I had.[emoji4]

I mean, it's totally your call if you decide to keep pdp. The sheild app also, disables other packages. So there isnt really a necessity for 2 package disablers. But, some people like to use more than 1.
