So.... currently my phone is protected by the update blocker script and I have not had any update threats..... I will start the process of installing the APP but I need to know what I need to do about the script first... can I just do a factory data reset on the phone then install the APP or do I need to uninstall the script first.....

If you like you can factory reset, but it's easy to undo the script if you edit with an editor like notepad or notepad++ and change in all the lines "pm hide" to "pm unhide"
But keep in mind to disable WIFI and mobile data first, otherwise the update could sneak in. Enable WIFI only during the short process of logon to the shield. After activating it you are protected..

And turn off auto system updates too
