Have a Note 7 from Verizon. However I was overseas when it got banned from flights. Had to leave it in the Caribbean where I will use a caribbean(not Verizon sim) whenever I visit that country. If I never place a Verizon sim back in that phone can Verizon still shut it down with the kill update? I never intended to use the phone in the U.S. again but will use with the foreign sim when I visit the Caribbean which I do often. Do I still need to install the shield?

I have a question @gil.wharwood I am flying out to Cali in April but would like to bring my note with me as well. I will power it down as I travel but how did they know you had a note 7? Did someone on the plane or at the gate ask for people with note 7 to stand up or something lol just want to know so if I do decide to bring my phone with me I know what to look out for. Sorry for your lost the note 7 is a great phone I hope you had something else here in the State side when you came back to use... Best of luck and thanks for your help.

International users have been hit with this update before the Us did. Not sure if the carrier you used is one of them. I would suggest getting the shield as a safety measure
