Hi hopefully I've put this in the right place, I'm in the UK on my 2nd note 7, at 60% battery and on EE network, the only protection I have is your solid explorer method. A few times every day I get the update stopped message so I think I'm safe, however I'm still getting notifications from Samsung saying my phone will receive the no charging battery update tomorrow 31st Jan.
I'm not very techy and would really appreciate some help if I need it or reassurance that I'm safe.
Many thanks

Seems there's just a 30% limit update pending at your device. If this fails by using solid explorer, the "final" update should fail too.
But as you are in UK you'll probably have a N930F (exynos model).
So there is a way to install custom recovery / root / install custom rom as described here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7 ... 0-t3447611
That's the best protection ever, you'll never get a system update, and it will bring back 100% charging to you.

Thank you for your response it's much appreciated, I've taken a look at the link you gave, that looks way beyond my abilities, i wonder if anyone has made an idiot guide to doing it, for non techy people like myself. Also if i do manage to the hydra Rom in the link you provided am I right in thinking that i would then be safe from Samsung trying to kill my phone and therefore wouldn't need the shield v2? Thanks again and my apologies for my ignorance

Not only are you safe from samsungs creepy update stuff but you can use a lot more with hydra rom. It claims to be a Galaxy S7 Edge instead of Note 7 and so you can use shield V1 as a package disabler, oculus and Gear VR is working again and a lot of more useful apps are working then, like Titanium Backup for full backup ability including the data of your apps and more.
Regarding to another guide for installing the hydra rom idk if someone did that, maybe you try with google to find, but I think if you take care and do exactly what's written there it should be possible to manage this. A lot of other ppl. without technical experience did and succeeded.
If you are not sure or don't have time tonite to do, just suspend your wifi and mobile data and postpone this. Without wifi or mobile data enabled the update cannot be downloaded and installed.

You cannot install Hydra ROM on Verizon phone, cause it has a locked bootloader.
So it's not possible to install a custom recovery, like TWRP, as a requirement to install any custom rom, like Hydra.
