Gear vr help

So I had 2 note 7s buy one get one free on AT&T the obe I was using i tried go root it before i found this sight to prevent the update amd bricked it. The pulled out the other phone now which I've never used my gear vr on. I read the post hear about how to use vr without oculus home but that only seems to work if you had oculus working before the it was disabled. By the way i retired the other note 7 after bricking the phone because I couldn't bring it back to life and i was paying the differencd between it and the s7 that was the free offer. But wonderinf if there's a way to use my gear vrs with my note 7 if it was never setup on my phone prior that was my favorite thing to do on my note was play suicide squad and watch movies on my note 7 with gear vr I miss it so much. By the way thank you to whoever made this sight I was dreading them killing my phone.
