hi friends,

almost 2 weeks ago, i revive my note 7 with this famous shield! it prevents my note 7 from downloading that phone disabling patch from samsung.
it worked well until last saturday. now its impossible to get it back to work again. i always got that "please insert sim-card" error.
but it is still inside. same error as before, when note 7 was unshielded..
i dont know whats wrong at this time. is there any new patch from samsung out, which is undetected?
or is there an new shield update since last friday?
i tried to reflesh the note 7 again, also did an backup of my working rom, with shield installed, but neither work for now. sim card undetected by system...

what can i do?

i have an samsung note 7, sm-n930f bought in september 2016 in thailand, and i live in germany, sim card is an vodafone prepaid. custom rom is the hydra 1.45

cheers and thanks

Usually you won't get any system updates / patches from Sammy if a custom rom like Hydra is installed. However, you have root access, so several apps could make system changes (maybe the devs think its needed for the app to work, or even for user unwanted purpose or they might have a bug).
Do you know what changed since last Saturday?
Did you try another sim card, especially a contract based (no prepaid, e.g. from a friend) to see if this one will be recognized?

thanks for fast response!
dunno what changes since last saturday. there are several play store app updates every day.
i tried my other sim. it gets recocgnised for about 2 seconds, after that, both sim cards were never been recognised again!
i my other phone they work well, also in my tablet!
seems there is some mechanism, which disables each and every new sim especially for the note 7 only..

That's weird. I don't update any app, until it forces me to do that for expiring otherwise. And even then I decide if I want to use that app longer or to switch to another one.
Never change a running system...

But maybe its an app which is not distributed via play store. Or the update of the play store itself may have infiltrated / tampered the system. Google often tries io implement new 'security' features, which may prevent a device with root and/or custom rom from working. And if you don't get system updates, you might get google app updates...

You could try to go back to stock rom, boot up without simcard and in airplane mode, and install/activate the shield immediately to stop any possible update. If this works, the problem maybe related to Hydra or root access.

Hmmm, what did you restore from backup?

If you end with restoring the custom rom, you can't test with stock...

You could try stock rom with shield, without restoring the backup and the try to get the simcard working.

Another idea is to check if your IMEI is at a blacklist. That would explain the activation of a new simcard for just a few seconds.
Especially N930F/FD devices with origin Asia / Australia have often been blacklisted.

To get back stock rom you need to know what exact firmware release (esp. baseband) you had before you installed custom recovery / custom rom, since an e-fuse prevents to rollback to an earlier baseband version.
Please note, if you had a baseband 1 version before, you can flash baseband 1, 2, or 3, if you had baseband 2, you can flash 2 or 3, and if it was 3, you can only flash 3, but you'll never get back to an earlier baseband version.
And baseband 3 versions of note firmware have a charging limit (depending on the version 60, 30, 0). So take care which firmware you use.

If you identified the correct firmware, the procedure would be to flash the 4 files with ODIN V. 3.12.3 mininimum (DON'T check re-partition or nand-erase all!, don't use pit section)
Would recommend not to check auto-reboot, instead reboot manually.

Before this procedure, remove your simcard and shutdown Wifi.
After the flash process, skip account and wifi installation at boot / install process, install and activate shield as described to block the updates.

Important; Make sure to enable developer settings and enable USB debugging and OEM unlock again.

and regarding the blacklisting:

This is quite complicated. Normally, blacklisting only happens if someone says his phone is lost or stolen. But Samsung misused to blacklist Note 7 devices in countries were it is allowed / or were willing to co-operate. This happened esp. in Commonwealth countries, like Australia, Canada, even GB...

Our countries like the US don't allow this, so there other actions were taken, like implementing charging limit or hotlining (Verizon).

If a phone is blacklisted or not, usually depends on the primary market, were it was sold first. So if yours is from Asia, maybe thats the reason, because it woukld be illegal to blacklist a not lost / not stolen phone in Germany, or they would need a court order, in case of crime etc.)
