Forum Search not working?

Unless I'm doing something wrong, it seems as if the search function is not working. Every word or group of words I try to search for comes back word too common error.

seems there's a "hit limit"

If I search for "package disabler" I'll get the error too, but using "package disabler pro" it works (38 hits)

Here's some added info on the search. This is some added info of what comes up regardless of what is searched:

"You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 1 character and must not contain more than 1 character excluding wildcards."

Obviously the search is pretty ineffective at this point. We're getting more and more content all the time, would love it if it worked better.
