I was curious about this app in the past and never went through the activation process as it says you have to wipe your phone first. my questions are:
1. Does it work well on s21 series phones running android 11?
2. How does the adblock portion work compared to "disconnect pro" (similar knox-based blocker from galaxy store)
3. Best way to install it seems the QR method straight after a factory reset?
4. Read somewhere that once enabled as owner, this app disables samsung cloud sync? is this true?
sorry for all the questions but would like to know all i can before resetting my phone for the 3rd time this week. thank you for your replies :)

To answer your questions, hope it will help you:
1. Yes it works with S21 and Android 11 (not rooted, with stock rom).
If rooted, only parts like the app manager would work, but not the firewall and adblock, since those features use knox.
2. Can't say anything about disconnect pro and therefore can't compare too. You can test the firewall an adblock features with just activating knox in the shield app (no need to set device owner for this).
3. The QR method after factory reset would be the fastest way and easy to go, however you have to restore your data after this. Another way would be to remove all existing accounts from the device (you can add them back later) and to set the shield app as device owner via ADB method. This would not require a reset.
4. After you set a device owner app like the shield app you won't be able to use secure folder and Samsung Smart Switch backup. Since Smart Switch Backup is using Samsung cloud, I'd assume that cloud sync won't work too, however we didn't test the cloud sync feature.

I successfully performed the adb method after removing all my accounts on my phone. but i am still unable to enable firewall or adblock with error message "this administrator can't execute this operation because he is not the owner" at bottom of screen.
at the main screen when opening the app it properly shows owner indicator are green. but this message is confusing. any ideas?

Does the indicator at main screen show Knox as green too? If not, just go to settings (the gear symbol) and slide the Knox switch to the right. Make sure NOT to switch the Owner off, because to switch owner on again you had to do the ADB process again.
The features firewall and adblock need Knox activated, while the feature package manager with full disabling functionality needs device owner.
For complete shield app feature set you'll need both (device owner and Knox) activated.
