I'd made another post outlining everything I'd done, but maybe I've overcomplicated this.
I did the Solid Explorer procedure. It showed the Software Update failing several times as predicted. When I rebooted the phone this AM, same thing. I see the Software Update failing Dialog box.
However, I am getting the "Update Available, Install Now, Install Later" Dialog Box as well.
Does this mean if the update tries to run, it will fail? I can live with the Nag screen for now. If so, I will take a breath...
Thanks!
Maybe I am safe after all?

Think again Verizon is pushing out a new update soon that will only allow out going calls to its customer service lines, not sure if this is even legal.

I should have been more specific - safe from the battery killing update completing its installation.DjRonG wrote:8388 Think again Verizon is pushing out a new update soon that will only allow out going calls to its customer service lines, not sure if this is even legal.

Using the solid explorer method, you killed the software update function. It tries to install but fail for insufficient rights...juliesdroidsync wrote:8394I should have been more specific - safe from the battery killing update completing its installation.DjRonG wrote:8388 Think again Verizon is pushing out a new update soon that will only allow out going calls to its customer service lines, not sure if this is even legal.

Well I would
I would like to get the new OS Nougat, but I am guessing that's not possible. unless there is a custom rom for the N7.beowulf381 wrote:8417Using the solid explorer method, you killed the software update function. I was hoping you'd say that!!! LOL, but what is confusing me is that I *still keep getting the notification popup that tells me there is an update, and makes me either hit Install Now / Install Later***... So, If I'm understanding you correctly, even if I was to (which I won't!!!) accidentally hit Install Now, it would fail??? If so, Happy Days! I can live with the Nagging reminder...beowulf381 wrote:8417Using the solid explorer method, you killed the software update function. <edit> and yes, when I re-start my phone, it does give a dialog box 3-4 times, Unfortunately, Software update has stopped... or something like that. Just want to make sure... this is all so frustrating!!! Thanks to you all for your help!

...and life gets weirder. I rebooted the phone again, this time w/o clearing the cache... and guess what??? the nag message is gone!!! I did get the Unfortunately, Software Update failed - 3 or 4 times. Maybe the whole thing had to do with the fact I cleared my cache on the last reboot. I'm actually charging the phone now. It's at like 87%. I watched it go up from 70%. So I know the update did not install... taking deep breath for today!juliesdroidsync wrote:8450I was hoping you'd say that!!!
