Below is an email I just received from:

Time-sensitive info about your service
Your Samsung Note7 has been recalled due to an overheating risk. Because your safety is important to us, your Note7 will stop working on or about 1/31/2017. To avoid a disruption in service, please immediately upgrade to a new phone at your original place of purchase. You also qualify for special upgrade incentives:
• Upgrade to another Samsung device and receive a $100 bill credit, or receive a $25 bill credit if upgrading to a non-Samsung device
• Upgrade fee will be waived via bill credit
Additionally, please return the Note7 to the original place of purchase within 5 days to avoid being charged for the device. If your Note7 has been lost, stolen or confiscated, please call 800-922-0204.

Went looking on Verizon website to figure out what "will stop working" means, I found that active Note7 devices will no longer make or receive phone calls (except 911).
So my question is - is the Note 7 dead or will anything that you have developed keep them from doing this?
Thanks in advance for your response

the reality is, IMO, that lawyers are unlikely to want to take on a case where 1.) no one died, 2.) it's a foreign company whose 3.) 4th quarter operating *profit* (not gross) was about what? (see snippet - and this is JUST their electronics division)karminb15 wrote:8545 Has anyone contracted a lawyer?
The South Korean technology giant said October-December operating profit was likely 9.2 trillion won ($7.8 billion), the highest since the third quarter of 2013 and well above the 8.2 trillion won tipped by a Thomson Reuters StarMine SmartEstimate from a survey of 21 analysts. The estimate was also higher than any individual forecast in the survey.
Nope... they won't want to touch it, large scale. I wouldn't think so, anyway... If you could find a lawyer to take it on a case by case basis (where you pay up front!) you might find some lawyers willing to go after a more down-to-earth amount for an individual client... It will be interesting to see.

Sorry, misunderstood... You're right. I still wonder how easy it will be to get a lawyer to take on such a giant, though...? Especially since they're going to claim that Samsung was really behind it all.karminb15 wrote:8584 Not talking about Samsung. They aren't the ones threatening to charge us for a product they will disable.

And then not so much "let's sue!" I'm currently more concerned about the legality of their actions and our rights as consumers. It's so hard to find anything online. There may be no precedence set.

Verizon will put Imei's on blacklist database and they have legal legitimacy to do it. If this database is not shared with others operators, phone will work on t mobile for example. Only solution would be to repair Imei with z3x samsung pro for example (if it works) with a legitimate alternative Imei (eg. s7).

I received a text message stating that Verizon would be re-routing my service to customer service. Two hours later I receive an email stating they would be re-routing my service to customer service starting the 26th. What in the world is going on! I called Verizon and bitched them out. I am suppose to receive a phone call from Verizon executives sometime this week. I would keep you all updated.

They network blocked our Canadian note 7s in December and I have emailed amd called just about every imei repair vendor i can find and the answer is always the same " we cant help you".
My device still charges too 100% and my imei is intact just no network signal so i dont know exactly how they killed the network connection.
Sent from my Note 7, S7 Edge or S6
