z3x box allows you to use a serial connection and connect your phone to your computer with a "emulator" of sorts. It sends a 301K-ohm signal alllowing for factory like settings to be accessed. doesnt use typical usb and instead uses either cat 5 connection or serial aka jtag.

So they hotlined me on Friday 1/20. I called VZW and complained, and they agreed to reactivate me until 1/26. I guess my time is running out fast.
Does anyone happen to know if there are any developments or progress with IMEI number changing? As always, thanks for the support.

Message from Facebook group:
Still working on the box. Lots of time has went into it. Dave Jones and I have shot ideas back and forth for box vs no box & testing of the same binaries, etc. Problem is- in order to change the IMEI# for non-rooted devices it requires writing the EFS directly to the board which can't be done via USB. This box came with cords used for connecting to the mobo to write NV data but that requires cracking the phone open, thus voiding it's ip68 water resistant rating. it's certainly not an easy process.
_
what it can do:
_
- unlock phones
- reset factory reset protection (FRP)
- reset pattern locks/google locks/samsung locks
- change certificates, read/backup/write QCN/NV data
- auto-root and change IMEI# (on just about ANY other damn phone, minus the note 7)
_
and a few other things. but, myself as well as my team have been working/testing endlessly to find better solutions to using this box in our particular situation. yes, it's time sensitive - but so is research and development. unfortunately (and as much as i'd love to) i don't have a magical wand that I can wave and materialise answers for everyone instantly. if you need to switch carriers and cannot hold out any longer - you will not be judged. you are still welcome to stay and receive support on your future android device(s) as that is why we are here, not just for note7 phones.
_
If you are able to switch back to another phone that you've previously used and can wait out the research phase on our end; then I would suggest doing that. The more time we have, the better quality answers & solutions we can provide. I'm moving forward with testing additional methods with Linux that may grant me the ability to root the n7 via simply using USB (on this dumb APHE locked bootloader). I'm sorry I've been MIA or unable to answer messages sent to me or forum posts directed towards me. I've been quite busy.
_
Nonetheless, I love you all and this community is solid AF. I'm very proud of what we've built here and I hope that you all continue to stay for future support, the conversation, the people and the quality of the community. The community that I honestly would not have been able to grow and create without the help of a fantastic team of people: @Catwoman, @NCqTee, @nfamouzprincezz, @RRiVEN, @Chelsy, @benyou54, @Novamega, @kurtis.barbeau, and @beowulf381. Each person on this team inspires me in different ways. I'm excited for the evolution of the Alliance, the website, the Shield app (v2, shhhh *wink*) and more.

Stay tuned and stay true to the Alliance even if you leave the Note 7 game
