Using a Verizon (or other) pre-paid sim?

I read somewhere (thought it was here but can't find it now) that we could use a verizon pre-paid sim, pop it in our N7 and it would work. Anyone know if that is the case? At this point I am just trying to use my N7 until the S8 plus comes out. Otherwise I am back to my sluggish N4. If anyone has any info on whether the Verizon pre-paid options (or other pre-paid options like Straighttalk) work, please add to this thread. Thanks!

I would like to know this as well. I was just thinking about what I could do as I have received the message that Verizon will cut my phone off on (or around) the 31st.

Thanks for the replies (and I received your PM Julie). The reason I could not go to another provider is that where I live only Verizon and AT&T work. Service for anything else is basically zero. My GF had her phone on straight talk and it was terrible. The texts were broken up into much smaller sizes, texts often wouldn't send or receive, data was slow, etc. I was recently in south Texas and saw Verizon had pre-paid (monthly) plans. I know I read somewhere (Been on so many forums discussing the N7 I can't remember where) that someone had used a verizon prepaid sim in their N7 with no problems. But I am iffy on that since Verizon will know the IMEI and info of what phone would be activated on even their pre-paid sims I would think.
I have already been hotlined, but since I was travelling (1000 miles away from home) and did not have a backup phone with me, I got VZ to take the hotline off until midnight tuesday. I don't think there is any way to get them to extend any N7 from being hotlined as of midnight tuesday as Feb 1st they hotline all of the N7's still being used.
I have about given up hope. I have used package disabler since day one on my N7, so I have always had all update APK's frozen. This latest attempt by VZ is an actual IMEI block or re-direct, that is pretty much the end for our N7's I believe. I can go back to my N4, but really don't want to. I could get by, but I use GPS frequently and my N4 always was VERY slow to acquire GPS signal, which I think is a problem with pretty much all Note 4's. I am considering getting a refurbed S7 Edge at Best Buy for $475 and I have a $50 best buy gift card I could use to get it down to $425. This could hold me out until the S8 edge plus is out (which will likely be late april). I have held on to my N7 for dear life, but I feel like Tuesday at midnight is the end for all of our N7's. Still holding out a little hope there is a work around, but not seeing one anywhere.

I would also like to know this. I'm already hotlined and looking for a way to get my N7 back in use. I have a TMobile sim card coming today, but have heard this does not always work. Thanks!

Can I just change my IMEI to avoid the Verizon Hotline issue?

apparently they are already unlocked. I am currently using a Straight Talk sim. I activated the Straight talk sim with a different phone, then I just put it in the Note 7. works fine. I am disappointed with Straight Talk data speeds...RonDon7 wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2017 7:24 pm does your phone need to be unlocked to work with straight talk sim?
