Any error msg while connecting to a hotspot?

Yes, I switched to Straight Talk from Verizon. I've never really had to use anything except wi-fi until recently due to travel and storms. So, when I want to go on google maps, it just said "you are not connected to the internet." When I was on Verizon, if I shut off wi-fi, I'd automatically connect, but now I don't. I thought I had caused the issue, but it's not.
I saw on the website of Straight Talk that people need to go in and check their device with the SIM number of card or phone number. I did both and it says I wasn't registered, but I am and everything works fine. I can definitely get good connection (up to four bars) in a couple spots I need it, but my note 7 just keeps telling me to check for wi-fi. I'm so bad at this, no idea what to do or change. Thanks, everyone. My days are crazy and I don't go online until I get back. I stopped here to grab some work folders, but am heading back in a couple minutes. I'll be back online at about 4pm.
Thank you for answering!

I'm back on. Please, lmk if you need anything else. I'm late, but had to make dinner first. I'll keep checking back.

So you have problems with mobile data and not with wifi...IllyriaGodToAGod wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2017 6:48 pm I'm back on. Please, lmk if you need anything else. I'm late, but had to make dinner first. I'll keep checking back.
Try to check your apn settings. Should to be found in settings - connections - mobile networks - apn settings
Or just search in settings for 'apn'
Compare this with your son's apn settings, should be the same if his mobile data is working and he's with straight talk too.
If you don't have his settings, then add a new apn at yours to get the same.
At the end, try to switch mobile data off and on again to see if it's working.
