So I've been reading up on the IMEI's and after reading a few things on this forums, I have a few questions.
To start, I'd like to explain my "exchange" for my note 7. So when I went in to get my S7 Edge, they made it really clear that they were removing my Note 7 from my account, that all money would be refunded, and that I'd be getting a box in the mail that would have shipping instructions on how to get my Note 7 back to Samsung. Looking at my Verizon account, I don't see anything on there about my Note 7 and I never got a package in the mail asking me to return my Note 7.
So from reading on this forums, if/when Verizon pushes out an update for my Note 7, I've already got them blocked by doing the steps in the tutorial to block the 60% battery life update, correct me if I'm wrong. If they send something out with the IMEIs, I've read that they'd have to have my IMEI on record in my Verizon account?? If so, I don't think they'd be sending it out to me, as I think they believe I've already sent it back/exchanged it. Again, correct me if I'm wrong.
If Verizon believes I've already returned it, and I am currently only seeing my S7 Edge on my account, am I safe from the IMEI blocking? I'm only asking because from what I've read they are only sending out the IMEI blocks for Note 7s that are still currently active, which mine technically isnt. I plan to put my S7 edge SIM card in my N7 to continue using my N7, but I just want to know if I'm either safe or I have to do something to prevent the service block of my IMEI.
[SOLVED]Question about IMEIs and my phone plan.

So, if I were to root my phone, use a note 7 rom, use one of the imei changing apps (that require a root,) would I be able to use my note 7 even after the new IMEI block?Catwoman wrote:1201 I think they would only believe you returned it if you send them the box and they see the tracking.

Rooting not available for snapdargon based devices yet, cause of locked bootloader. But possible for exynos variants. If you effectively manage to change the IMEI than you would be safe from blocking. Most known app just mask the IMEI, so probably the original ones will be presented to the networks and blocking can appear too.MightyJoeTYoung wrote:1311So, if I were to root my phone, use a note 7 rom, use one of the imei changing apps (that require a root,) would I be able to use my note 7 even after the new IMEI block?Catwoman wrote:1201 I think they would only believe you returned it if you send them the box and they see the tracking.
