Hello everyone,
First I'd like to say I came across this site by luck and am impressed how everything is put together. Thanks for the effort!
While you all have been informed about these changes I had my Note 7 in a drawer and never even paid attention to any of the OTA updates that have been put out. I never imagined anything like this would be done and I expected to just trade the phone in when something comparable was put out by Samsung.
Now the problem. I have photos, messages and other stuff I'd like to backup before it gets bricked by Samsung. So what's the best way to charge the phone and try and block the kill switch they will put out so I can back up my stuff? I have already temporarily switched to an old phone I have and I doubt Sprint will ever add this phone back to their system so I just want advice on how to plug it in and what to do immediately to block the updates.
[SOLVED] New to N7A. Just heard TODAY about disabling the N7

Glad you found us.
As long as it has zero network connectivity you are fine. You said you temporarily switched to an old phone. Did you pull the SIM from the Note 7 or add the SIM from the old phone to your account?
If you pulled the SIM then the only thing you need to worry about is WiFi. You can unplug your WiFi Router, turn on your Note 7, turn off WiFi on your Note 7, then plug your WiFi router back in.
If you have not pulled the SIM out yet, pull the SIM out then do the steps above.
Once that is done, you will have ZERO chance of getting the update. You can transfer files and photos and protect your phone from updates.
