I have one Note 7 that's been Shield protected for months, no issues. I just bought another one and during the process of installing and activating the current Shield version on the new phone, it downloaded the kill update from T-Mobile while I was fooling around getting the Google Play Services update to install (which I was prompted to do because SHield wouldn't run without it). It has not installed the update, and I have NOT turned off the phone in case the update it teed up to run on boot.
THis is a second gen, 100% green battery Note 7, baseband is API4
Is there a way to delete this update from the device storage before it has a chance to run?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Jack

If you want to get rid of the already downloaded update, the only way is to factory reset the device and re-install the shield.
Try to activate the shield while you are connected to a slow internet connection. If you use your own Wifi, you can throttle its speed.

I also have a Note 7 with 100% green battery. How do I prevent this from happening to mine?

None, I've done a factory reset via Recovery, didn't sign into anything or connect to any kind of internet during device set up. I've just been reading and preparing to make sure I don't ruin my chances of trying this beast of a phone out. I've transferred NetGuard and AllianceShield apk's from my other device via bluetooth but that's all I've done.

I just realized that I abandoned this thread with resolution obtained through the Facebook page. It took some work with Daniel DontUsePeoplesNames (SHield developer) to work out a kink in timing of the sign in procedure on the Shield v2 app to get protection enabled. It required merging some changes into a new build which has been incorporated in to the version available for download the past several weeks. I have had no further issues with ShieldX since these updates. Tip of the hat to Daniel for his dedication and willingness to work with us at all hours of the day or night to keep our phones protected.
