[SOLVED] Gear VR help

Ok so I have a gear vr but never used it in this phone and was wondering if theres anyway to set it up. I hear you can root your phone and change the build prop to G935 (s7 edge) but i tried that and you lost a of features like i can't use my gear s 3 which is big for me. And i can't install good lock plus i couldnt get the vr to work rven after changing the build prop it kept saying failed to install gear system. Any ideas to do this without root.

@RSmithJr89 - were you able to fix this issue? If your device is rooted, @beowulf381 has successfully done this to enable re-use of his Gear VR.

@Aztec Well i read that post and realized it says that method only works if you had the gear vr up and running before being disabled. I never had the vr up and running on this phone before. I had it on a different note 7 that I bricked and returned. I had 2 now just 1. But is there something im missing? Please help

Agreed, I think I saw a work around someone posted on FB but I'm not able to find it right now. Would love to make it work.

This will only work so far if you have a rootable device (SM-N930F/FD) with exynos processor or maybe a snapdragon based device that never got an update of the firmware (that means the very first stock rom version with unlocked bootloader).
This way you can root and edit the build.prop file and change the model number to, let's say to SM-G935F. So play store and any app like oculus will identify your device to be a Galaxy S7edge (in our example). And you can use all oculus stuff with GearVR..

This method can help, as in the last Hydra ROM the build.prop is already changed this way to spoof device type and let oculus work again:
