Phone codes

Can anyone explain how to use the phone codes in the guide(s) and tutorial(s) section of this website?

You go to your phone dialer and type them in there and initiate them by hitting call or they initiate themselves upon typing the last digit, if it's accepted by the phone. If not it may be a different code.

Those codes don't seem to work on my Verizon Note 7. Even the simple diagnostic code, *#0*#, does not work on my Note 7; however, that code works on the Note 4.

Verizon almost always changes the codes from everyone else.
