Since you are in the UK and assuming you've an Exynos based SM-N930F or FD model you can do this by installation a custom recovery / root / custom rom like in the link below.

Before you start, make sure you enabled developer options, and inside developer options usb debugging and OEM unlock must be enabled too.

it should power on while plugged in. you will have to keep it plugged in the entire time

Can you bring it to download mode (press Vol Down + Home + Power together), while plugged in?

You could try to leave it at the charger (use quick charger) sometime, ot try to come to recovery mode (Vol UP + Home + Power together).
If nothing works, you're almost lost.

However, there is a solution, but you have to be tech savvy and willing to take a risk.
You can open the device, as you'd like to change the battery (there are several videos to do this, e.g. with youtube), then disconnect the battery from the charging logic board, and connnect it directly to the USB-C. But take care, this way it's possible to overcharge the battery and let it burn (that's the risk). So you have to monitor the charging level from time to time. Some guy here in forum already did this and it worked for him.

After you charged battery to sufficient level this way, all options with custom stuff like described are open again, and custom kernel will bring full charging ability (the normal way) back.
